TOM is still hangin' around and has overstayed his welcome.

In past years my daughter has asked questions about Santa, but this year I'm being bombarded.  She's 8, almost 9 so I should be happy that she has truly believed up to this point, but I still want to give her hope so I answer her questions as if I don't know all of the answers but I myself still believe.
Here's the most recent conversation:
Graesyn: Is Santa scary?
Me: What do you mean?
Graesyn: Well like, what does he look like?
Me: Well….you know what he looks like.
Graesyn: Well not really. I mean, there are all these people dressed like him, but no one has ever really seen HIM. So how do we really know what he looks like? You know, like Alice In Wonderland…in every picture she has blond hair and a blue dress but no one ever said that is what she really looks like. Maybe she really has brown hair.
Me:???...WELL, we know he has a beard and wears a red suit and has glasses….you know!...from the song…
She was satisfied with that and had no more questions for the rest of the drive home.

I guess better late than never, TOM is here 2 weeks late.
Dinner with old friends and Last Comic Standing were fun.  I've seen a couple LCS a couple of times but not this past season so I didn't know any of them but they were funny.  The supposed winner of this past season was not so funny and they saved him til last so it wasn't a great ending, but overall a great time.  After my friend scooted us out of the casino (where the show was) she joined her husband at a blackjack table and 3 of the comics eventually chose their table to gamble.  Wish we would've stayed.

I have to tell you something I'm so excited about.  Bioidentical hormone replacement.  I was told 8 years ago at age of 35 that I was perimenopausal. A couple of years ago I was trying to search for a doctor in my area that focused on this.  I didn't do an extensive search, but it wasn't easy and I found 0.  I've heard Suzanne Somers talk about them, and Dr. Phil's wife too.  Suzanne has a new book out so she's been on talk shows promoting it, and I fould out she has her own website.  I went to her website and found out she has a list of suggested doctors in each state.  There was one for MN so I had a consultation with him yesterday.  I then read that if you talk to a pharmacist who mixes up the bioidentical compound, they can tell you of other doctors that believe in this type of replacement.  At this point there are very few doctors and very few pharmacies that are a Compounding Pharmacy so I was happy to talk to anyone about them.  I have an appt on Friday for a blood draw to find out my hormone levels and other things, and then next Friday we talk about the results.  Also, Suzanne is giving a lecture about this and other anti-aging secrets and they will be showing it at a theater near you on either 11/4 or 11/9.  I'm going tomorrow night.  So excited.

yes, I broke into my daughter's stash of candy.
On another note, I had bought a costume for my dog and she barely has it on before I have to take it off because she's ripping it off, but I like to get pictures of my daughter and the dog in their costumes each year.
SO, the costome was a hippo with a pink tutu and I attached the back end around my dog's legs, and then pulled it up towards her neck.  IT WAS TOO SMALL,so it ended up looking like the hippo wanted to mate.  It was hilarious.

Was so proud of myself last night.  Husband and daughter wanted DQ.  They were playing Wii and asked me to go get some (very close to our house).  Thought about taking one bite of my husband's but didn't, just got home, served them and walked away!!
PLUS:  Our Halloween candy that my husband and daughter picked out last night was not catering to the likes of the trick or treaters like it usually is.  This year they bought all different kinds of skittles.  I can avoid skittles for the most part.  so yay!  Last year was a disaster.  We normally had been having about 100 kids come by in past years.  So we bought 100 candy bars.  About 25 were left over.  FULL SIZE CANDY BARS....not a good outcome for me.  Everyone have a good Sunday!

Question for my followers:  Do you think caffeinated coffee is better for the body than diet soda?
The reason I ask:  I drink a LOT of soda every day.  I manage to get my water in too, but it seems I need to be drinking something or have something in front of me every 10 minutes or so.  Now I've never liked/drank coffee, but I love the smell of it.  I wonder if it would be possible for me to make the switch, or would it be worth it.

Crud, now I can't remember what my weight was this morning.....190.6 or 191.6.  I totally blew it yesterday, so I'm sure it's the higher of the two.  The reason I'm confused is because I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I thought I had dropped a pound, because I though yesterday's weight was 192.6(?)
My husband seems to be struggling with the same issues...can't lose well because (duh!) we're not following protocol.

[Edit] Just got some "help" from my co-workers.  Since I had a bad day yesterday, my mind was sayin, "Well-you might as well go ahead and have that pizza from Punch for lunch today.  You're already screwed up AND you skipped it yesterday while everyone else in the office had theirs, so you deserve it."  Anybody else know that "talk"?
I have awsome co-workers and we can tell each other good or bad, joke around and no one takes it bad etc.  So I've been a little disappointed that no one has mentioned anything about my weight.  And I'm not the kind of person that would ask them directly.  Last week the building owners came around and gave every office a basketful of full size candy bars.  I had the power to resist them that day, but before I left for the day I went around to everyone and made them take at least one so there wouldn't be any left on Monday.  I thought I was pretty smart, but then this morning when I got in, someone had placed a bag of skittles back on my desk. (very funny guys!)   SO, of course I didn't have as much will power as I did on Friday, so I opened the bag, ate 4 and then poured them into a little bowl and put it on the file cabinet where I know people will just grab a few as they go by and soon they will be gone.  So I was laughing about being sneaky and FINALLY two co-workers commented on how I was looking and "whatever you're doing is working!"
I feel good again and will NOT be having that pizza today!  It's a shame that I rely on other people to make me feel good sometimes, but....that's how it is.

Here's proof that this plan works when you do it right (or doesn't work when you do it wrong).  I was ill yesterday, VERY lethargic and nauseous.  All I could get down was an apple and a heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese to try and get some protein in me.  Only down .2 today and I doubt that was enough time for my body to go into starvation mode.  Anyway, still lethargic but I think I'll be able to stay on track for eating today.  It is a GORGEOUS day today and I wish I had enough energy to do some outdoor things:  the lawn desperately needs mowing, I need to divide some iris bulbs as well as transplant many of my flowers to a different area, trim trees....overwhelming.  I was also lined up to volunteer at our local Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  They will have great weather for it!

Later that day....darn it!  I was planning on having Sundays be my "no hcg day" but I forgot to inject today, so I guess Thursdays will be THE day.  Not a big deal, but i thought Sundays would be a good day if I was feeling some urges to sneak something while not getting a fresh dose of hcg in my system.  I know it stays in your system for 2 days or so, but I just figured it would happen to me if it was going to happen to anyone.
The good thing is that I've had no adverse affects or cravings.

I am in desperate need of a new bra or two.  Not only because the ones I have are a bit raggedy (nice word, huh?) but a little bit big.  I need to hang on for another week or two if I can.  It's the one thing that is driving me nuts right now.
Oh and I think I've figured out why I was getting bruises from my injections in previous rounds.  I was starting with the needle almost all the way in, but then as I injected, I'd pull it out a little bit, so I suppose it was injectin too close to the top layers of the skin.  After 5 injections this round, so far no bruising.  YAY

A New Beginning....back to life, back to reality

For the last week that I haven't posted, I've been struggling with my bladder infection.  I SO understand people that are in cronic pain and are obese!  I ate and ate and ate to try to get my mind off of my pain. Add that to all of the cranberry juice I was drinking, and I put on a lot of weight.  So, I'm off to start a new beginning.  Things are under control at the moment, so I shall begin.

Only today left for my antibiotics...I have concern that my infection won't be completely gone after today.
Oh, on the 10th I thought TOM had started, but no.  Weird.  Must've been blood in my urine?  
This morning while I was half asleep, my husband told me he read that there is a new superbug that has hit Europe and a few cases in the states.  UTI's that won't go away.   Gotta look that up in case he's fibbing.

UPDATE:  The superbug is called NDM-1.  I read an article that was dated today, however the bug has
been around for at least two years and originated in India (the ND is New Delhi).  It has been found in about 50 patients in the UK, 37 of whom traveled to India or Pakistan for medical procedures.

Taking a guess at my weight today.  While my daughter and I stayed overnight at my parents, I forgot my injection AND of course didn't have my scale to weigh myself this morning.  When we got home at about 4:30, I weighed my self at the 199.8.  Would be great if it is real.  We shall see tomorrow morning.

Had a pretty good time at my reunion and while there were only about 1/4 of us in attendance, there were a lot of classmates that hadn't been to one at all, or since our fifth.  So it was neat finding out about people I didn't necessarily hang out with while in high school.  We had a graduating class of about 125 so really, we all knew each other.  There were even 2 that had attended school with us but moved away at some point before graduation.  GREAT to see them too.

omg I just tried on a pair of jeans I bought months ago, but then never wore because they were a little tight.  Couldn't take them back because I had taken the tags off.  They fit!  They fit!  Sometimes I wish women's pants had the adjustable waist buttons that my daughter's has, because they are even a little too big in the waist.  But I will wear them proudly.  Hey, I MIGHT even finally be able to go down one size.

Well, not the loss I was hoping for obviously.  Food wise I really followed protocol, and planned to slam at least one bottle of water after I got home, but it never happened.  When I started this plan, I originally thought I'd be down to the 160 range by now, but that was just a dream.  My 25 year class reunion is tomorrow night, and I was hoping to be under the big 200 by then...just to feel great about it.  But I currently am wearing the same pants I wore to my 20th reunion and not only do they fit, but they are a ~little bit loose.
So I still feel great about it.

Uff-da!  I was going to say I was completely on protcol yesterday and I can't understand why my weight didn't move at all!!  However, once I thought about it...NO.  No I didn't follow protocol exactly.  I had one bottle of Coke Zero (which by the way I've had-one bottle-every day since starting round two).  Also, the chicken I had was not organic and I chewed about 6 pieces of Trident bubble gum.  SO, one more try for me before I go onto an apple day.
I also have a feeling 200-203 is my plateau weight, the weight where my body wants to remain.  I've lost
weight down to this point before, but never made it past the elusive 200.  But thus far I've hardly had to work very hard to lose with hcg, so I consider myself lucky.

After thanking Kathryn, I now must share 7 things about myself. Hmm, must think.


1) After just getting back from Vegas makes me think of the flights in and out. I get motion sick so I have to take Dramamine. I absolutely love amusement park rides but I have to take Dramamine before I ride. When I was young my parents would have to remember to bring an empty coffee can (with a cover) if we were traveling more than just a few miles in the car.
2) 2 years ago I won $20K worth of Ticketmaster gift cards in a sweepstakes from Blender magazines.
3) I work for FSNorth but have no interest in sports.
4) My 25th year high school class reunion is this year. Some days I don't feel that old, but some days I really do!
5) I live in MN but was married on Martha's Vineyard.  It was our 12 year anniversary this year.
6) I wish Mad About You was still televised.
7) I'm a junkie for sweets. They call me a candy connoisseur :o)

Vegas Baby....hotter than Hades.  My husband said when you're outside, it just feels like there is something wrong...like you're standing too close to a bonfire.  After some drinks I had a need for some chocolate.  Stopped into a news stand type store at Bellagio and got a Bellagio "brand" caramel filled chocolate bar.  I opened it as I walked out and told my husband it looked like it was old.  Broke off a piece, bit into it and only then noticed the BUGS!!!  Didn't have the need for chocolate anymore.

211.0 should have put me at a steak day.  But since I wasn't prepared to do it Monday, and Tuesday was a day trip to Fargo (total of 8 hours driving) with my Mom and sister, I thought I would do a steak day on Wednesday.

I'm a little worried about gaining today.  I'm staying on protocol but since I hardly ate anything yesterday, I have a feeling I'm going up.  BUT, I will say I'm so glad to be done with the injections for a while.  It seemed every time I injected, it hurt and I got a bruise from it.  So at any given time you can see 5-6 bruises surrounding by belly button.  SO, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday will still be VLCDs, but on SUNDAY!
I cannot wait.  First up will be pickles.

Can't believe I lost 1.8 yesterday!  I thought those days were over.  I've been having "crazy legs" and slight leg cramps at night so I took some potassium today.  It keeps me awake longer than usual.  I'm still hungry quite bit.  I don't think I've ever had a day where I wasn't.  I'm still using about 30 units (just a little more than) daily.
I came home from work ravenous....and ate 100g (10 slices) of hard salami.  boo

So, wah! Last night I cooked Kraft mac and cheese for my daughter and couldn't resist the powdered cheese packet. I ate the WHOLE packet and had to open another box to get another packet for the mac and cheese!! WTH? I'm so bloated...my face is puffy, my jeans aren't as loose and I am soooo tired. Plus I burned my face with my curling iron to top it off. Oh, and my injection site hurts today.

Uff-da.  Rough day for eating.  Memorial Day at my parent's house.  First off I was +.2 this morning after a no cheat day.  Then my mother was affended that I wouldn't try her cucumber dip (which also had mayo and cream cheese in it).  So I had a dollop of it on a Ritz cracker.  Then is was time for lunch and I got out the organic chicken I had brought along to grill.  I took a whiff of it and it had gone bad.   Damn it.  So my sister offered me a Boca Burger which at the time I thought would be better than a regular burger, but when I got home my husband said it is all carbs.  I also had some salad with strawberries and picked out the walnuts and feta cheese.  There was a light dressing on it.  Oh, and I put a slice of avacado on my boca burger with no bun.  THEN, 2 hours later we were roasting marshmallows for smores.  It was those giant marshmallows, not just the regular big ones.  I roasted one for my daughter and made her a smore.  But the smore was HUGE with the big marshmallow in it, so I bit off about 1/2 of it so she could handle the smore (listen to me making excuses).  Then I roasted another and ate it myself.  Then my daughter wanted another smore so I had to eat another 1/2 off of her marshmallow.  When we went back inside I spied the 'Black Jack' taffy candies.  YUM.  I had 4.  Two hours later on the way home I stopped for something for supper for my daughter at McDonalds and bought a hamburger for myself.  Ate it all except the bun.  WHAT A CHEAT DAY!  ug
I'm doing an automatic apple day tomorrow.

I CAN'T believe it!  I weigh myself at night too, just to see what my morning weight may be, and last night I was at 215!  I was bummed when I went to bed, thinking, 'there is no way I'll go down more than a couple of pounds" (from past experience).  But look at that!  Down 4 from the night before.  I was very strict today,
no cheat at all so it's a big incentive to stay on protocol!

Yesterday I pulled out a pair of jeans that I thought were my "big pants" (the ones that I'd been wearing before starting hcg, and are baggy but I tried the next size down and hadn't lost enough yet), pulled them on and went, wait: these are the one's I tried on about a week ago that were too tight.  oh wow, now they're good.  They are still size 18, but just a tighter fit I guess. 
Today I am wearing a shirt I bought about 5 months ago that was too small. Size 14
Now that helps to actually see a little bit of difference in clothes!

WOW, I just realized I forgot to take my B12 and L-Gluamine.  And I feel great.  I think the 30 units is a good place for me.
The newest scale has arrived.  Like it a lot, however it is closer to our original scale's weight than it is the scale we bought last week and don't like.  Damn, looks like I won't make it past 213, I'll be going up to adjust for the scale difference.

I decided to go down to 30 units of hcg starting today.  My husband will be happy to know that I have decided to do the 40 day rather than 23. 
Wow my lunch seemed very filling!  I usually save my fruit til the middle of the afternoon though, so we'll see how this goes.
Tomorrow I'm going below 213.  yep, that's right...I can feel it.

Where, or where had my energy gone?  Oh wait, I never had much to begin with.  But WOW I thought I'd have a buttload by now.
SOOO, the new scale was funky today.  My husband decided to weigh himself 4 times and got 4 different weights.  I originally weighed in at 214.8, but when he told me about it, I weighed myself 4 more times and always got 214.4.  HOWEVER, when I weighed myself on the old scale, the difference between the two was now approx. 1.5 rather than only .5, so time to get a better new scale.

Bought a new scale today.  It seems to be different than our old one by 1/2 a pound.  You would think a new scale would calibrate better than the old but who knows.  Anyway it measures by .2 increments, so I'm looking forward to seeing how different I feel when I see a -.2 vs 0. I need to look up recipes for cauliflower.  Although we originally started P2 thinking we'd do a 23 day VLCD, my husband is now thinking he wants to go for the 40 day.  I'm not so sure because I've REALLY been looking forward to the things I can have on P3 in just 10 days!

Updates

My goal is to lose 25 lbs during my 21 day round.  I have a feeling I may only make it to 20.

I am still using Body Butter, but I'm trying to use more and more of the approved coconut oil I bought at Whole Foods.  I use softlips (couldn't live without it) and my normal face regimen.  I use Walmart brand grape drink mix (like Crystal Light) in at least 1/2 of my water for the day.  I usually drink over 2 liters.
Once I started VLCD, I did quit using my VitaBath.  I miss it, but it wasn't a hard break.  I use the same soap, and hair products as I did before I started hcg.
So I guess in conclusion, the only products I've cut out are VitaBath and Body Butter.

For food, I've been following protocol except for mushrooms.  I don't like too many veggies, and even less on the allowed list, and the mushrooms don't seem to have effect on my weight loss.  It may be someting to cut out if I have a long stall.

I've also ordered some flavored tea that should be arriving soon

OTHER postitives:  By day 2-3 of P2, I've had NO headaches, and my husband has stopped ALL snoring.

Bought some L-Glutamine at GNC today.  I've read in blogs that it is suppose to help with cravings/sugar cravings.  The guy thought I was crazy.  But I took 500mg and didn't really notice it helping yet with cravings, however oddly, I'm pretty sure it helped ease the pain of my 'tennis elbow'.  CRAZY  It's almost 7p and I"ve forgotten to eat...better get something in my belly.

Not sure I like the way I'm labeling my posts....i'm confusing myself.  May change that...

5/1 Have your fill


I should probably state that we bought an injection kit from another source and received it in ONE day.  We are still waiting for an email (since 4/26) about any sort of update from the source of our original order dated 4/15.  So we started the injections today and when we FINALLY get the other order, we'll save it for our next round.

I have decided to MOSTLY  post the date or day that I'm on the protocol along with my weight and possibly a very brief description of that day.  I'm trying to follow so many blogs that it's hard to read it all.  So I am posting only the information that I'd like to see on other blogs.  (oh,oh I'm already getting long winded)

This photo shows what I am suppose to be doing for 2 days. Guess what I ate today? A handful of Reese's cereal (we ran out of milk) and then ran out the door for my daughter's musical. 4 hours later I ate 1/2 an order of Parmesan Chicken Alfredo because I couldn't finish the rest. WHAT? On a normal day I would have eaten much more, but when I'm trying to load up, I can't. It WAS a busy day. Now I'm trying to make myself eat double chocolate malted milk balls, and also had several squirts of whipped cream.  Tomorrow we plan to have dinner at Red Lobster so I can get my buttery crab legs in before I start my VLCDs, and I would really like to have a Cinnabon.

April 27 Disappointing hcg source

My husband actually researched the sellers/sources of both hcg injections and the homeopathic drops.  We both decided that we'd like to try the injections, and went with a distributor suggested by a friend who was currently ordering from the same distributor.  We even read about others that had ordered from this same person with rave reviews.  We are not raving.....well maybe raving mad.  We wanted to start this asap of course, and had our funds in his hands on 4/15.  Today is 4/27.   In my opinion he has over promised and under delivered.  Apologies have been extended, and while his delays are valid, I'm fairly certain we won't be ordering from him again.

So...we are uncertain when we will be starting.  We've been checking into the idea of a quick order for the drops, and using those until this distributor can get us our original order.  Nothing of the sort has been suggested by him, and we would not be buying the drops through him.  We continue to wait...
